History

Founded in July 2008, New Beginnings Family Services, Inc. (NBFS) is a non-profit organization located in Columbia, South Carolina. We are staffed by a team of professionals with a desire to serve individuals, families, and the community.

Mission

Our mission is to provide individuals with a small, ("home-like") therapeutic environment to maximize their choices and independence while receiving the care and support they need to live a productive life in the community.

System of care framework

NBFS approaches residential services from a systematic prospective. Residential care is provided through a network of community services and support staff for children and adults who experience physical, developmental, and behavioral or psychological challenges. Families, children, adults and providers become partners so each client can function better at home, school, work and in the community. The family, child and/or adult work in partnership with public and private organizations to effectively build the strengths of the individual and address each individualīs cultural and linguistic needs. Families are seen as important team member. They will work side by side with NBFS, as well as professionals and community members to plan, deliver, and monitor services for their child or adult.
